6-Hour Trip – Bottom Fishing/Trolling
This trip is usually a combination of trolling and bottom fishing. Red snapper season for 2018 opens June 1st through July 21st. Red snapper must be released outside of the season. We can also troll for Spanish mackerel, king mackerel, and bonita in addition to bottom fishing. If you are looking for fish to take home and it is outside of red snapper season then we can target some tasty fish including vermillion snapper and mackerel. These is no closed season on vermillion snapper and mackerel.
4-Hour Trip – Trolling
Fishing nearshore in sight of land by trolling several baits behind the boat. We often catch Spanish mackerel weighing from 2 – 5 pounds. King mackerel usually weigh 7 – 15 pounds but can weigh well over 30 pounds. Spanish mackerel are caught March through December. Kings are usually caught April through December. Big bull redfish weighing 20 – 30 lbs are sometimes caught mid-October through late March and may be caught by trolling or casting with light spinning tackle into a school of big redfish. Morning & Afternoon trips offered.
5-Hour Trip – Trolling & Bottom Fishing
This trip is great for the anglers who enjoy some trolling and some bottom fishing. We can troll for Spanish mackerel, king mackerel and bonita. Red snapper season 2018 is open June 1st through July 21st. Red snapper and triggerfish must be released outside of the season. We sometimes catch vermillion snapper on the 5-hour charter. This is a good trip if you are looking for some action but only want to catch and release your fish or keep just a few fish. You may keep king mackerel, Spanish mackerel and vermillion snapper year round.
8-Hour Trip – Bottom Fishing
The 8-hour trip is not offered during June 1st through August 15th. The 8-hour charter is similar to the 6-hour charter except we travel farther offshore and fish longer. We usually catch more fish and sometimes larger fish on the 8-hour trip. We target red snapper (in season). We also target vermillion snapper, white snapper, mackerel and occasionally catch grouper.
10-Hour Trip – Bottom Fishing/Trolling
The 10-hour offshore fishing charter is offered year round and will usually provide more variety of fish than the shorter trips. We fish deeper water on the 10-hour trip. We target red snapper (in season). We also target vermillion snapper, lane snapper, triggerfish (in season), white snapper, scamp grouper, red grouper, gag grouper (in season) & amberjack (in season). We also high-speed troll for king mackerel & wahoo. This 10-hour charter can provide you a good chance to catch big fish.
12-Hour Trip – Bottom Fishing/Trolling
The 12-hour fishing charter is our premium offshore bottom fishing trip and is similar to the 10-hour charter. We usually travel 35-50 miles offshore. We usually see more variety and larger fish on the 12-hour charter than the other trips. You will most likely catch red snapper (vermillion snapper, lane snapper, triggerfish(in season), white snapper, scamp grouper, red grouper, gag grouper(in season) & amberjack(in season). We also high-speed troll for king mackerel & wahoo.
We can also deep drop fish on the Last Hook since it has the extra speed to travel farther offshore. We fish for yellowedge grouper, snowy grouper, golden tilefish, blueline tilefish and longtail seabass upon request in advance.
Last Hook Deep Drop Fishing
Deep drop fishing is offered on the Last Hook on a 12 hour trip. We can do all deepdrop fishing or a combination of deep drop fishing and conventional fishing in shallower water. We fish depths from 400 feet to well over 800 feet for golden tilefish, blueline tilefish, snowy grouper, yellowedge grouper, longtail seabass and more. Enjoy our high tech, light weight, quiet, power assisted reels. Unlike methods used by some anglers, we do not use heavy gear that has to be placed in a rod holder and all fishing is done by pushing a button. With our method of deep-drop fishing, you hold the rod, feel the fish bite, hook the fish, reel the fish off the bottom and then use the 12-volt power to bring the fish up from the dark depths of the ocean. We all enjoy the suspense of waiting to see what the next fish will be. You just never know in the deep deep waters of the gulf. Most all of these fish are excellent table fare and some of the deepwater fish have been compared to the taste of lobster.
